Secure Recycling scales up e-scrap shredding operations

Secure Recycling, a Solon, Ohio-based electronics recycler and information technology asset disposition (ITAD) services provider, first invested in an RS100 shredder from Hampton, New Jersey-based equipment company Untha America in 2020 to establish what the company hoped would be a reliable foundation for its recycling operations.

As the company grew, it added ZR2400W and XR3000C Mobile-e shredders to increase processing capacity and efficiency and, according to Secure Recycling, the shredders not only have enhanced throughput but ultimately allowed it to replace its previous RS100 shredder.

“These machines are the backbone of our operations,” Secure Recycling President Mario Jurcic says. “Their robustness and ease of maintenance give our team the confidence to push boundaries and see what’s possible.”

Secure Recycling says the ZR2400W preshredder has reduced the power required for shredding and enabled it to process larger and heavier materials, such as printers and stadium-sized LED panels. The company adds that the XR3000C shredder’s “robust construction and superior ability to handle unshreddable objects without sustaining damage” has achieved approximately four times the throughput compared with the RS100.

In a news release announcing the investment, Secure Recycling says it aligns with its long-term vision for growth and environmental responsibility. According to Untha, the shredders have dramatically reduced Secure Recycling’s downtime, reportedly delivering its lowest operational interruptions since its inception. Additionally, Secure Recycling says the energy-efficient technology helps lower costs while promoting sustainability in the electronics recycling industry.

Secure Recycling processes a wide range of electronic scrap, achieving throughput rates of up to 7 metric tons per hour, depending on the material, the company says, adding that the shredders consistently produce a 2-inch particle size which is further separated using technologies to maximize resource recovery.

With these advanced shredders in place, Secure Recycling says it is poised to explore new market opportunities and continue its trajectory of steady growth.

“Our journey is built on hard work and determination, and these shredders are a key ingredient in our recipe for success,” Jurcic says.

As a RIOS-certified recycler, Secure Recycling says it remains committed to providing secure and compliant ITAD services to individuals, corporations and government entities across the U.S.

“Secure Recycling has been a fantastic partner for Untha America,” Untha America Sales Manager Charles Hildebrand says. “The firm’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in e-waste recycling sets a high standard for the industry. This project showcases the power of our shredding technology in delivering reliable, cost-effective solutions for high-volume electronic scrap processing. We’re proud to support Secure Recycling in its mission to advance sustainable IT asset disposition.”
