Global recycling association says it is planning for an in-person event in the fall of 2021.
The Brussels-based Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) says its spring 2021 World Recycling Convention & Exhibition will take place as an online event May 31 to June 2. “We would all have hoped to meet in-person, but given the present situation and the projections for the near future with regards to the pandemic, ‘online’ is still the safest and more realistic option,” the BIR says in a late February statement.
The trade association says it will adopt a new “TV-like” format that will include its customary plenary sessions and panel discussions, joined by “on-demand news, interviews, company videos, market reports, special features and entertaining content.”
Adds the BIR, “We reiterate our determination to hold an in-person meeting this year, and we are already working toward a physical convention.” The association says October 24-26 are the planned dates for its return to an in-person gathering, without yet naming a host city.
