After the IFAT trade show in Munich and the ISRI convention & expo in Las Vegas, a third major recycling industry event is cancelled due to the widespread coronavirus. BIR’s World Recycling Convention 2020 in Istanbul will be rescheduled to (11) 12-14 October 2020. It will take place at the same venue, the Swissôtel The Bosphorus.
‘The rapid spread of the virus and the global health concerns, the growing trend of travel restrictions imposed by countries, companies and airlines, and the overall recommendation to avoid mass gatherings has led us to take this difficult decision’, the world recycling organisation reports.
‘For the first time in the 72-year long history of BIR, one of our conventions will not take place as planned’, comments BIR President Tom Bird. ‘We know how important our events are for our members’ businesses, and therefore, this decision was not taken lightly. But when we cannot fully guarantee the wellbeing of our members, exhibitors, and staff, it is the right decision to make.’
